Afrikadey! is a celebration of African culture featuring music, literature, arts, dance, cuisine and more.
Afrikadey 2010 festivities will begin with Opening Gala on August 9th at REPUBLiK (219 17 Ave. SW) from 7pm to 9:30pm. It will include dance, music, fashion and African appetizers. Although the festival includes various tasteful events (like pop quiz and dance workshop) throughout the week at different venues, one event you wouldn’t want to miss is celebrations at Prince’s Island Park on August 14th, 2010 starting 10.30 am.
Besides experiencing African inspired sights, sounds and flavours in the park, you can also enjoy the beer gardens, take your kids to the children’s area for making K’Naan-inspired waving flag, indulge in eating curried goat, jerk chicken, Colombian BBQ, or ice cream or buying African art and wares.
